5 Tips for Your Post-Holiday Recovery

Renee VanHeel

Juggling a busy work schedule with an even busier holiday season can be so overwhelming that it is no surprise that many people feel that they need a vacation by the time the new year begins. Social events, family get-togethers, shopping for presents, and travel can all add up to a weakened immune system and exhaustion. The following tips will help you get back on your feet after the hectic holidays.

1. Get Some Undisturbed Rest and Relaxation

It may be easier said than done, but the best way to improve your mood and energy is to get a good seven to eight hours of restful sleep.

2. Replenish Your System with Essential Vitamins and Nutrients

It can be hard to get away from the sugary treats of the holiday season, not to mention the bubbly drinks and extra servings of eggnog. After even a few nights of indulgence, your body can become dehydrated and sorely lacking in the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients you need to feel healthy and energized. Replenish your immune system with a juice cleanse.

3. Get Re-Inspired to Get Moving

Your workout routine likely fell to the bottom of your list of to-dos during the holidays, but now that it’s time to get back on the wagon, get the encouragement you need.

4. Breathe Easy

The hustle and bustle of the holiday season can cause a lot of physical and emotional stress to build up, dampening your spirits, and making it difficult to just let go of those seemingly endless to-dos.

5. Let Someone Else Handle the Details

One of the main reasons December is often a whirlwind for most people is that there are suddenly so many things to take care of under a very short deadline. Getting ready for holiday parties, preparing meals, buying presents, and setting up travel plans is understandably overwhelming.
